A search of records at NARA for a Daniel C. Davis as a Civil War vet Military file turned up negative. He bought lot #4 on block 8 in the town of Lewis.; Book N page 171 on 4 Sep 1869 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.137 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1870 for Lewis, Cass Co, IA.138 He Daniel C. Davis purchased from the trustee of the Western Stage Coach Co.; 4 town lots on block 6. Recorded book _?_, page 463. filed on Feb 24, 1871 on 1 Jan 1871 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.139 He was a in 1873 at member, Lewis Lodge No. 140 I.O.O.F., Lewis, Cass Co, IA.140 D.C. Davis & wife sold their 4 lots on block 6 in Lewis to Joseph Hampshire. Book Y page 384 and book 6 422. filed on March 17, 1874 on 6 Mar 1874 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.141 D.C. Davis sold to H L Samson 1 lot #18 on block 4 filed on June 9, 1874; book 6 page 506 on 9 Jun 1874 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.142 Margaret Hampshire sold the 4 town lots on block 6 back to D.C. Davis; book Y, page 575 on 20 Oct 1874 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.143 D.C. Davis sold to the Cass County Bank the 4 lots on block 6; book 8 page 411 on 28 Oct 1874 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.144 He and Minerva Nancy LaPorte were "..on or about the second day of February A.D. 1876 lived and cohabitaed with him as his wife.." on 2 Feb 1876 at Lewis, Cass Co, IA.145 He was living circa 1879 at Leadville, Lake Co, CO.146

Davis were divorced on 6 Nov 1879 at Sycamore, DeKalb Co, IL.171 She married Charles Henry Foiles, son of James Foiles and Ann Watson, on 14 Sep 1880 at Paw Paw, DeKalb Co, IL.172 She died on 15 Feb 1913 at 127 S. 18. Jonas K.5 Baightel. He was born circa 1840 at MD. He married Susan A. Strine (see #19), daughter of John Strine, on 16 Dec 1861 at Fredrick Co, MD. He died before 1900 at Lee Co, IL.181

19. Susan A.5 Strine (John, #38). She was born on 20 Oct 1833 at Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD. She married Jonas K. Baightel (see #18) on 16 Dec 1861 at Fredrick Co, MD. She died on 25 Jan 1918 at Dixon, Lee Co, IL, at age 84.192,193 She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, Lee Co, IL.194

20. Joseph K.5 Boyd (Robert, #40). The cause of death was heart failure from valvulor imbirament (sp?) (5 weeks). He was born on 5 May 1825 at OH.196 He married Lucinda Rude, daughter of Israel Rude and Mary McAdams, on 16 Mar 1848 at Scott Co, IN.197,198,199 He and Lucinda Rude were divorced on 11 Apr 1871 at IN. He married Eliza Jane Faren (see #21), daughter of John Farran and Mahitabel (--?--), on 7 Mar 1872 at Vernon, IN. He died on 28 Aug 1906 at Scott Co, IN, at age 81. He was buried after 28 Aug 1906 at Kimberlin Cemetery, Scott Co, IN.200
He was described as at age 36, he stood 5'10" tall, had a light complexion, blue eyes and light hair.201 He Land Records show the original purchaser of 80 acres of land described as Township 4 (Vernon) E 1/2 NE section 32, 80 acres was purchased by Robert Boyd on 11-17-1845. This is land shown owned by Joseph K. Boyd on the 1858 map of Jackson County. A SEARCH of the Deed Books of Jackson County (books A thru P covering the years 1816 thru 1856) did not show the name Boyd on 17 Nov 1845 at Vernon Twp, Jackson Co, IN.202,203 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1850 for Vernon Twp, Jackson Co, IN.204 He warrent deed to Simon Brant 40 acres described as NW quarter in twp 4 North of range no 6 E section 32 for the sum of $300 on 4 Sep 1856 at Jackson Co, IN.205 He owned land four lots, 80 acres in N/E section 32, 40 acres in N/E section 33, 40 acres in S/E section of 28 and 40 acres in S/W section of 27 in 1858 at Vernon Twp, Jackson Co, IN.206 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1860 for Vernon Twp, Jackson Co, IN.207 He in his affidavit, John Hougland said he had known Joseph K. Boyd for 44 years in 1865.208 He began military service on 14 Mar 1865 at Indianapolis, Marion Co, IN.209,210 He was ill with sick in hospital in Jun 1865 at Louiseville, KY.211 He was ill with In Hospital after being found near the Rail Road just outside of Baltimore. He was seperated from his Regt on 13 Jun 1865 at Baltimore, MD MD.212 He was ill with In hospital on 30 Jun 1865 at Washington, DC.213 He ended military service on 21 Jul 1865 at Louiseville, KY.214 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1870 for Vernon Twp, Jackson Co, IN.215 He and Lucinda Rude resided on 2 Jul 1870 at Jackson Co, IN.216 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1880 for Lexington Twp, Scott Co, IN.217 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1900 for Lexington Twp, Scott Co, IN.218

21. Eliza Jane5 Faren (John Farran, #42). The cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage. She was born on 15 Mar 1846 at Vernon, IN. She married Joseph K. Boyd (see #20), son of Robert Boyd and Diana Kelly, on 7 Mar 1872 at Vernon, IN. She died on 19 Mar 1931 at Scott Co, IN, at age 85. She was buried on 20 Mar 1931 at Austin Cemetery, Scott Co, IN.227,228
In his affidavit, John Hougland said he had known Eliza J. (Faren) Boyd seven years prior to her marriage to Joseph K Boyd in 1865.229
22. Nathaniel Hamilton5 Dismore (Nathaniel, #44) was born on 1 Mar 1850 at Jackson Co, IN.231 He married Susan E. Clark (see #23), daughter of Richard Clark and Mahala Deputy, on 28 Jan 1875 at Scott Co, IN.232,233 He died on 4 Jun 1895 at Scott Co, IN, at age 45.234,235,236

24. Araunah K.5 Woodward (Daniel, #48). The cause of death was unknown - only comment recorded was he was in good health his whole life - was hard of hearing. He was born on 6 Mar 1819 at Royalton, Windsor Co, VT.262 He married Julia Ann Kenworthy (see #25), daughter of Thomas Kenworthy and Mary Lawrence, on 3 Jan 1841 at Royalton, Windsor Co, VT.263,264 His estate was probated after 1910.265 He died on 18 Feb 1910 at Royalton, Windsor Co, VT, at age 90.266 He was buried after 20 Feb 1910 at Branchview Cemetery, Royalton, Windsor Co, VT.267

Woodward to his brother, Amos, he said "He (Araunah) has repared up the old house this fall new clapboard pain & papered inside.269 He was listed as head of household on the census of 1860 for Royalton, Windsor Co, VT.270

27. Minerva L.5 Ingraham (Alfred, #54). The cause of death was died after giving birth. She was born circa 1834 at Wayland, Steuben Co, NY. She married Anson Felton (see #26), son of Amos Felton Jr. and Elsea Roberts, on 30 Oct 1859.308 She died on 28 Mar 1873 at Tunbridge, Orange Co, VT.309
28. Thomas5 Blair was born on 8 May 1844 at New London, Chester Co, PA.310 He was born on 8 May 1844.311,312 He married Rachel Elizabeth Tunnell (see #29), daughter of Stephen Andrew Tunnell and Sarah Ann Rall, on 10 Sep 1865 at Bethel, Morgan Co, IL.313 He died on 18 Nov 1929 at Quincy, Adams Co, IL, at age 85.314,315
